When it comes to sensual, stylish storytelling, Luca Guadagnino and Jonathan Anderson are the dream team. Fresh off the success of Challengers, the friends have joined forces yet again for the new period romance Queer. Guadagnino directs the adaptation of the William S. Burroughs novella while Anderson, renowned for Loewe and JW Anderson, designs the costumes. The love story finds two American expats — Lee played by Daniel Craig and Eugene by Drew Starkey — navigating their romance amidst the vibrant world of 1950s Mexico City. The lovers’ intoxicating adventures include an entanglement with a third played by Omar Apollo, the singer’s acting debut. GAYLETTER moderated a conversation between Guadagnino and Anderson on their stunning exploration of love, obsession, and the surreal.
